How do cells harvest energy?

We all know that we eat to obtain energy. But just exactly how is our body getting the energy out of that food we eat and putting it to use?

In this activity each person will participate in answering this question by looking closely at how this takes place in our own cells. Each energy team will take on one part of the question as outlined below and come up with a way to energize the other teams about what they have found by using power point so that when all parts are presented together we will have conquered the whole question allowing all teams to come together as one in their understanding of the question. Just like putting it to muscle memory, brain muscle that is.  To get you off to a running start refer to chapter 6 in your text and then the sky’s the limit. Good luck!

Energizing Power point must include:

  1. Topic (include topic title, team name, member names, date, period)

  2. 3 questions that focus on the main idea of presentation

  3. Body of power point

    1. Visuals & diagrams
    2. Explanations & descriptions
    3. Concise to the point and in your own words
    4. Energy & Creativity
  4. Restate main idea questions as multiple choice questions, one per slide that

student can answer at the end of your power point.

   5.   Provide one slide after each questions with correct answer.

(Use this Power  point template for the end questions and answers.)

How to save your power point

File name must be as follows: class period, team name and number (example:  2teamgolf5 ) No spaces!

Save file in short cut to science under my name/energy teams/your class period (always keep a backup for yourself).

See your coach and make sure to sign up  for the team you would like to be on as space is limited.
