Survivor Cell Corporation: Cell Construction Project

 

You have been hired by Survivor Cell Corporation to put together and propose a cell that will help its multicellular owner live a long and healthy life. Your cell construction proposal will begin when you receive a eukaryotic cell type that must be constructed (there are over 200 types of cells in a human body, plus several different types of plant cells, fungal cells, algae cells, etc.). You will need to be aware of the necessary parts that this cell will require as you will enter the high pressure world of organelle selling and listen to many organelle sellers “pitch” their organelles to you. As the cell construction manager you must decide which organelles you will need to purchase for the proper construction of your cell type. You will have a budget of $100 to spend to construct this cell and to make sure it will assist the larger organism in living a long and healthy life.   1. Ask yourself what I will need to construct this cell; begin to research its function and parts.
  2. Use this organelle purchase form  to plan what you will need to buy for the cell.
  1. Visit your local organelle sales store and listen to what the sales personnel have to say about their organelles for sell so you can further your insight as to which organelles you need to purchase (remember your budget of $100).
  2. Place orders with each sales person for the needed cell parts to be delivered on approval of your cell construction proposal.
  3. Write a cell construction proposal describing: (see bottom of purchase form)

a.     What type of cell you are proposing to construct.

b.     Make a drawing of the cell.

c.      How you will use the parts and what do they do for your particular cell?

d.     How does your cell function in the larger organism?
