3. Review for quiz: DNA and Gene expression

- Watch online video "protein synthesis" and label this Protein synthesis diagram

- Practice questions – online text ch. 10: chapter quiz (1-55)

- reread/skim through text pages 181-199

Tuesday 1. Meet in library computer lab

2. Quiz: DNA and Gene expression

3. Read text or online text pages 200-205 and answer these questions section (10.17-23)

Wednesday 1. Discuss ch. 10 microbial genetics

2. Notes & discussion viruses   (complete notes handout using online text book ch. 10) 

- submit to TUOL angel

                       3. H.W - Read pgs. 232-34 & 247 Dealing with DNA technologies (12.1,2,3,18)

a. write a paper summarizing what you have read

- gene cloning, genetically modified organisms

                        4. H.W. -On the same paper research Reprogenetics, Eugenics, and Genism and summarize your findings

c. include your thoughts on the two summaries above (4,5)

d. Submit your paper to turnitin.com and print out hard copy for class

Thursday 1. Discuss summary paper and turn in.

Objectives

1. Discuss and summarize the different types of DNA mutations and there affects on protein production
2. Describe and summarize the process of replication, transcription, and translation (protein synthesis.)
3. Use the base pairing code to identify the sequence of amino acids produced by a strand of DNA
4. Discuss the implication of DNA technologies, genetic engineering, reprogenetics
